reboot

The reboot command restarts the target device(s).

Command TypeSDVoE
Minimum Version3.x.x

Usage

reboot <target>

Arguments

ArgumentRequiredDescription
targetYesDevice name, MAC address, or device ID of a single device, or a device group. See Targets.

Targets

ValueReboots
<device>A single device
ALLAll devices
ALL_TXAll transmitter devices
ALL_RXAll receiver devices

A device is unavailable for a short period while it restarts. Rebooting a transceiver also reboots any USB extender attached to it, so target the transceiver rather than the extender.

Examples

Reboot a device
reboot 001ec0f03668

Return value

For each targeted device, the result contains either an entry in the reboot array (the reboot was initiated) or a device error object in the error array (the operation failed):

reboot 001ec0f03668
{
"status": "SUCCESS",
"request_id": null,
"result": {
"reboot": [ { "device_id": "001ec0f03668" } ],
"error": []
},
"error": null
}

Notifications

Rebooting a device generates a NOTIFICATION with event type DEVICE_DISCONNECTED while the device restarts, followed by events reflecting its updated state. See Notifications.

REST API

Endpoint typeSDVoE API command, forwarded to the Control Server
Address/api/device/{target}
RoleGoverned by the device lock rather than by a DisplayNet role
POST /api/device/{target}
{
"op": "reboot"
}

Values labeled with a type name such as String or Integer are placeholders, not literal text. Replace them with actual values; fields marked (optional) can be omitted.

{target} takes a DisplayNet device name as readily as a device ID, and a locked device refuses a mutating operation. See SDVoE API operations for what DisplayNet adds to these calls.
